Shaping Minnesota's
Brightest Tech Future

Nine things are at stake every time the Minnesota Legislature acts on technology. Put them in the order that matters to you, then see how the state's actual laws score.

About this tool. For more than four decades, MnTech has been Minnesota's nonpartisan, pro-innovation technology association, advocating for smart technology policy that keeps Minnesota competitive. The tool scores the 2025–2026 session alongside earlier Minnesota technology laws going back to 2005, so you can see the longer arc and not just the most recent argument. Your ranking changes how the bills score. The same bill looks very different depending on what you prioritize most.

No right answers. This is an invitation to think out loud. With enough responses, MnTech will share how Minnesotans weigh these values, and use that input to shape how it engages legislators heading into 2027. Learn more about MnTech's advocacy work ↗

How this was built. MnTech built this tool with Claude, an AI assistant. Every bill number, statute citation and status in it was checked against the Minnesota Revisor's Office and primary legislative records in September 2026. Treat it as a beta. The scoring reflects one way of weighing these bills, not the only way, and mistakes are still possible. If you find one, tell us and we will fix it.

Your privacy. MnTech does not collect any personal information through this tool. No names, emails, or identifying details are gathered. Any responses used in MnTech's advocacy and reporting will be presented only as aggregate, de-identified data. We will share what Minnesotans prioritize collectively, never what any individual chose.

How Minnesota's technology laws score against your priorities

Bills are sorted by how well they advance your top priorities. Each one also carries a view from someone who ranked these differently than you did. The point isn't to change your mind. It's to see the argument sitting on the other side of yours.

Minnesota has been making technology policy for more than a decade. These are the laws and programs that shaped the state's tech economy, scored the same way. Four of them are things Minnesota has since stopped doing, let expire, or narrowed.

How other states, Congress, and the EU have engaged the values you ranked highest. Some are in force, others were blocked in court or never passed. Each card shows where it stands.

Minnesota's technology policy gets written either way.

Policy Pulse is MnTech's read on what actually moved at the Capitol each week, written for people who don't have time to track bill numbers themselves.
