The 2024 Tekne Awards return on November 14!
This annual gala honors and celebrates businesses, organizations, and leaders who are helping fuel Minnesota’s technology-enabled ecosystem. This year’s awards are organized into three categories: Business Impact, Community Impact, and Individual Achievement. Below are descriptions of the categories as well as each award and links to apply.

Tekne Award Rules:
-
- Companies/Organizations do not have to be a member of MnTech to apply.
- There is no cost to apply.
- Previous Tekne Award winners are not eligible to apply with the same initiative for which they previously received an award.
- Previous applicants or finalists not selected as a Tekne Award winner may submit a new application for the same initiative. However, the application must demonstrate measurable change and/or impact since the previous application.
- You may submit more than one application but each application must be for a distinctly different initiative.
- The Minnesota Technology Association reserves the right to modify rules and eligibility.
Business Impact Awards
Awards in this group recognize organizations leveraging technology to enable innovation and achieve business goals for their organizations and customers they serve.
Nomination Rules:
- Technology-enabled companies and organizations headquartered in Minnesota or with substantial business operations in Minnesota, as well as non-profit, higher education and government institutions in Minnesota are eligible to apply.
- The majority of the work for the project, product or service and the team dedicated to the project, product or service for which the application is being submitted, must be Minnesota-based.
This award celebrates companies that have made notable advancements in the field of artificial intelligence, whether through research, application, or implementation. Successful applicants will demonstrate that they have leveraged AI to create revolutionary solutions, solve complex problems, and push the boundaries of what is possible.
This award category recognizes outstanding achievements and advancements in safeguarding data integrity, security and confidentiality. Successful applicants will be able to share specific indicators of excellence in developing and implementing robust measures to protect sensitive information, mitigate risks, and preserve individual privacy rights.
This award celebrates advancements in the field of data analytics and recognizes organizations that have demonstrated innovation, expertise, and impact in leveraging data to gain valuable insights and drive meaningful outcomes. We seek to honor organizations and teams who have made remarkable contributions to the field, advancing the way data is collected, processed, analyzed, and interpreted.
This award category acknowledges outstanding achievements in enhancing the overall experience for customers or users. Successful applicants will have successfully transformed their products, services, or platforms to provide exceptional and memorable interactions that exceed customer expectations.
This award recognizes organizations which have introduced innovations that have caused a significant disruption within a market. We seek to celebrate the visionary leadership and groundbreaking achievements of organizations who have pushed the boundaries of what was previously thought possible and caused a paradigm shift in their industries or service areas.
This award recognizes a partnership between a vendor or service provider and their client which has produced remarkable results for the client’s business. Successful applicants in this award category will have accomplished an exemplary level of collaboration and able to demonstrate tangible results through working in partnership to address the challenges faced by the client.
Community Impact Awards
These awards recognize significant accomplishments by organizations that benefit society, our community, and represent corporate behavior that benefits the future of the State of Minnesota.
Nomination Rules:
- Technology-enabled companies and organizations headquartered in Minnesota or with substantial business operations in Minnesota, as well as non-profit, higher education and government institutions in Minnesota are eligible to apply.
- The majority of the work for the project, product or service and the team dedicated to the project, product or service for which the application is being submitted, must be Minnesota-based.
Whether through innovative solutions or impactful collaborations, the Tech for Good award celebrates organizations that have leveraged technology to address critical challenges in our society and create lasting positive change. This award shines a spotlight on the remarkable achievements of those who have gone above and beyond to create a better future.
This award recognizes companies that have demonstrated a commitment to sustainable practices and gone above and beyond to incorporate environmental stewardship into their core business strategies and operations. Successful applicants in this category have embraced sustainability as a fundamental value, implementing practices and processes that have created a measurable positive benefit for the environment and promote long-term ecological well-being.
This award recognizes innovative approaches or operating excellence in the hiring, development, and retention of tech talent. This award seeks to recognize organizations for embracing forward-thinking approaches and initiatives, serving as role models for the industry and setting new standards in talent acquisition, management, and development.
This distinguished award recognizes the impactful programming and initiatives undertaken by solution providers, agencies, and non-profit organizations, aimed at inspiring youth to consider careers in technology and equipping students with the skills and experiences needed for success in this field. Successful award applicants will demonstrate how they are driving positive change by investing in the future of Minnesota’s tech workforce and contributing to the economic and technological advancement of our state.
Individual Achievement Awards
These awards recognize the significant contributions of individuals to the advancement of the technology industry and the continued vitality of Minnesota’s tech community.
Nomination Rules:
- Nominations must be made on behalf of the person to be recognized. Self-nominations are not accepted.
- Individuals being nominated must be a Minnesota resident, or employed by a Minnesota company, or recognized for impacting a company, community or team located in Minnesota.
- Individuals creating the nomination and the person being nominated do not need to be a member of MnTech to apply. No preference is given to MnTech members.
We seek to honor extraordinary leaders in our community for their ability to drive innovation, inspire teams, and make significant contributions to the industry while supporting the growth and career success of other technologists as a mentor, influencer, or role model. A successful award applicant will have provided effective organizational leadership and demonstrated a positive impact on our next generation of technologists.
This award category celebrates individuals who have made significant contributions to their field through innovation and pushing the boundaries of what is achievable. Their technical expertise has positioned them as trailblazers and recognized thought leaders within their industry. Applications should be made on behalf of these individuals by those who wish to recognize their noteworthy accomplishments such as a new patent, new product, or technology innovation.
This award recognizes promising individuals who are early in their tech careers, with less than 10 years of experience, but who have already made remarkable contributions and demonstrated exceptional potential within their technology area. Applications should be submitted on behalf of these early professionals in recognition of their talent, creativity, accomplishments, and potential to shape the future of their respective fields.
This award celebrates educators who have helped advance the field of technology education in Minnesota in such a way that their impact reaches beyond just the students they directly serve. Award applications should be submitted on behalf of the nominee to recognize and celebrate their remarkable achievements, unwavering commitment, innovative teaching methods, and impact on the field of technology education.
This award recognizes elected officials or those working in public agencies for their contributions towards building a stronger future for Minnesota. Award applications should be submitted on behalf of the nominee in recognition of their personal and professional commitment to supporting our technology industry, bolstering the potential economic contributions of tech-enabled businesses and helping foster a thriving technology ecosystem in Minnesota.
This prestigious award celebrates individuals who have made sustained and significant contributions to Minnesota’s technology industry. Nominees will be reviewed and chosen by the MnTech Executive Committee. Award recipients will be selected based on the indelible mark they have made on our technology community through their career achievements and impact on our broader community.
