Following our Advanced Technology community powered session “Stories of Machine Learning: Showcasing ways to apply and deploy AI within your business” our Director of Member and Community Engagement Jade Denson joined data scientists from Unisys and Cargill to extend the conversation and dive further into the ways they are leveraging ML within their organizations.

Jade’s Fireside Chat with Unisys:

Jade and Mark Rosno, an Advanced Development Engineer at Unisys, recently came together to discuss Unisys’ latest machine learning initiatives and talk through tangible examples of how they’re using ML to drive business, improve productivity, and push innovation within Unisys.

This fireside chat was a deep dive into Unisys’ novel approach to information retrieval and the facilitation of semantic search and response over a large, domain-specific corpus of PDF- and WORD-encoded technical documentation – borrowing methods from both computational linguistics and cognitive modeling.

Jade Fireside Chat with Cargill:

Watch Will Armstrong, Senior Data Scientist Engineer, with Cargill and Jade Denson MnTech’s Director of Member and Community Engagement in a fireside chat. Will presents a detailed overview of the way Cargill’s using machine learning to detect changes in bird flock activity that could anticipate changes in flock health before a human can recognize it, as well as talking briefly about how they use computer vision to assess the quality of soybeans after they’re harvested. Following a presentation, Will answers a few questions and shares best practices for jumpstarting Machine Learning projects within your organization.
