MHTA — Minnesota companies raised $241 million in venture capital in the first quarter of 2017, according to data from PricewaterhouseCoopers and CB Insights.

Top industries for venture capital in Q2-2017 included:

  •     Internet: 7 deals worth $175 million
  •     Healthcare: 5 deals worth $60 million
  •     Software (non-internet/mobile): 1 deal worth $6 million
  •     Energy & Utilities: 1 deal, amount not disclosed.

There were 3 expansion stage deals totaling $207 million, 7 deals with early-stage companies worth 28 million, and 4 seed stage deals worth $6 million.
